The infinite volumes of ocean water engulfed the huge, black submarine that housed a number of Navy seamen. Each of them had either been drafted or enlisted in the Navy since the violence of World War II had escalated. They were all aboard the USS Sea Lion, deployed into the Pacific from Manila, Philippines in July 1944. Many of them did not want to be a part of the war, but understood that they had to serve their country and fight against the evil forces threatening to take over the world. Most of the seamen understood that they would not make it back home, which set them to rethinking their lives and purpose on earth. Two men in particular, Seaman Brock and Seaman Gordon, came to realize that the war could unleash far more than violence—it could also loose the burgeoning desires of two forbidden lovers.
Gordon hailed from Minneapolis while Brock was a backcountry boy from Tennessee. Both men took their work extremely seriously. They kept their uniforms in pristine condition—not one speck of dirt could be found on either’s white seaman’s outfit. Both always fully dressed, as well, putting many of the other seamen on the submarine to shame. Because of this attention to the appearance of their uniforms, and of their basic admirable and obedient behavior in general, they became good friends with each other, but ostracized by fellow seamen, and would usually be called “pretty boys” or “faggots.” These harsh words were mostly just jealous exclamations because the Captain appreciated their professionalism. In any case, Brock and Gordon were closer as a result, and even put in a request to share a two-person bunker together.
Neither Brock nor Gordon had had previous sexual experience with men. In fact, both were married men on land. Brock was awaiting the birth of his first child while Gordon already had a one-year old son. Both were also raised in strict military households. Gordon’s father, a career Marine, thought that it was a disgrace for him to be in the Navy and virtually disowned him. Brock had no other option left besides enlisting—his family was broke, hungry, and in need of money.
Every bit of money that Brock earned was sent to his wife, to care for her and the baby. He seemed to really love his wife, and he provided for her well, but the sexual fulfillment of which other seamen would speak never seemed to describe his rather lackluster escapades in bed, though he pretended that his wife’s pussy was the only reason he was still alive. He, in fact, experienced a whole new set of desires once he joined the Navy and became more exposed to male genitalia. He would often find himself looking down at what other men had between their legs, and judging which ones he thought looked nice. He also admired that most of the men in the Navy kept their bodies in excellent shape, though to be honest, a few were on the puny side. Whenever he had private time, he would think about what it would be like to stick his penis inside of one of those other seamen and manipulate himself.
Gordon came from a less modest background. His mother inherited a sizable portion of money from her father, who was a wartime industrialist. Therefore he was a bit of spoiled child, but nevertheless intelligent and obedient. The only person he failed to mind was his father, an overbearing man with whom he had many altercations. In fact, he joined
