looking at Architectural Digest - November 2002 issue and found pictures of the same inn or I think it is the same inn, but I could be wrong. If you can look up the pictures on page 242, you can see how wonderful our weekends were in the old inn. This inn or ryokan is over 350 years old and so was ours. Of course when I looked at the pictures of this very beautiful ryokan it brought back many wonderful memories of the lovely times I had with Toshi, so many years ago. Let me tell you about one visit!

During that cold winter, I often made arrangements with Toshi and we would board the train for the village where the inn was located. We had reservations and the owner was used to us visiting his inn. One day it was snowing as we walked from the railroad station to the inn. It was so beautiful and romantic. Toshi would look at me and start smiling and whisper that he loved me. I would blow him a kiss and try to not let anyone see me do it. Of course we never did feel the cold; we were in love! When we got to the inn, our shoes were taken off, and we put on soft cloth shoes. Then we were taken to our room. We always asked for the same room, I think it was called "Wind and Trees" We took our baths in the big tub that had the hot mineral water flowing into it direct from a hot springs. Then I would take a warm towel and dry Toshi's beautiful body off. After our baths, we were provided with thick kimonos to keep us warm. The room did not have central heating, but there was a charcoal brazier or hibachi in the room. We sat on the floor with cushions under us; there was a thick blanket over the hibachi to hold the heat in. We pulled the blanket around our waists, letting the rest of our bodies stay outside of the blanket. We were as snug as two bugs in a rug!

We did not rush sex since we both enjoyed just being together and having each other. I would hold his hand under the blanket and we would just enjoy. There was a soft knock on the door, and maids came into our room with our dinners. The food at the inn was delicious. We washed our dinners down with cups of hot tea. I wanted each night to be very special for both of us and it was!

The people in the village must have gotten used to us as we walked through the streets of the village in our kimonos. We would always be laughing and enjoying each other as we made our grand tour through the village. We would always visit the temple and leave an offering and agree to return to the temple again.
