cloudy. She tried to push back the tears but she couldn’t. Without caring about noise she got up and ran out of the house. Her hands shook as she tried to insert her keys into the ignition.
As she drove away she looked back to see Jim running out of the house after her. That afternoon she drove for miles. Her phone rang several times but she never answered. She had a lot to think about. Jim left endless messages, which she never returned.
After a couple of days she finally returned home to find his stuff gone from the house. She knew he was moving out. He had said that in one of his messages, but still it was sad. The night she came back she called him and he came over. They talked for hours, sorting through everything. Together they decided they would divorce and that she would never reveal the reason why. After all they had nothing binding them to each other except the five years of marriage neither one would ever get back.
A tear fell from her cheek bringing her back to reality. She looked away from the calendar. It had been a month today. She had no reason to be sad. Things had ended before they began she thought. Annoyed with herself for feeling this way she pushed her thoughts aside. What she needed was to call Ben. He had been the only one who was there for her after she found out the truth. Erica got up and walked over to the phone dialing without looking at the numbers.
“Hello,” answered a deep voice.
“Hey you busy?”
“Never for you beautiful.”
“Can you come over?” She asked quietly
“I’m on my way.”
She hung up and jumped in the shower. More than anything she needed to feel like a woman tonight.
