to his. He wondered who might live there and if they would be good neighbors. Technically, they lived on the next block, their backyards butting together, but divided by that wall. He wondered if maybe they were unfriendly, giving reason to the divide, and maybe the wall was theirs making its jarring raggedness a little more sensible in the pristine setting of his property.
Then a light came on. He stepped back; no longer feeling invisible, into the comfort of his bedroom, assuming that the glass would hide his nakedness should the strangers in the light spy him. The glass doors of the other balcony opened and a man walked to the edge of his own balcony. He could not make out all the details of his face, but could see that he seemed to be about his own age, but blonde and fair skinned. The man rested his hands on the balcony railing and seemed to look out into the darkness in front of him.
At first he feared being seen, but then took comfort in the darkness of his own house, hoping that the reflections on the glass from the pool would hide him. After all he wasn’t peeping. It was just that he was naked, but he was in his own home. He understood now why the curtains had been pulled.
The stranger shifted his stance. He was rugged and handsome; he could tell that much and he began to wonder what he was doing. Surely he wasn’t freshly awakened and just enjoying the night air as he had been, for the stranger was fully dressed, and dressed quite nicely as a matter of fact.
The quiet was broken by the sound of a car, and an engine dying. The sound of a car door followed, and could almost make out perfectly the man saying, “Up here, darling, come up the back way.” He saw the handsome man smile almost as if he were acknowledging him across the way, but turned and stretched out his hand to an unknown figure rising up the steps to the balcony landing.
It was a woman, a beautiful woman with flowing black hair and a white dress that shimmered in the moon, barely covering her shoulders. The stranger kissed her and wrapped his arms around her. She pressed her back to him and looked across the yard into the darkness. They simply stared into the air and held each other, and he was transfixed at their figures, touching romantically thinking they were oblivious to all, as he had felt shortly before.
He could see the woman turn to the man and say something he could not hear. The stranger nodded and pointed into the house and the woman disappeared into the darkness. For a moment the stranger smiled into the blackness, and then slowly unbuttoned his white shirt, letting it fall open in the night air. Slowly two hands appeared from behind him and pulled the shirt off his body and it fell into nothingness behind him.
The man turned and he could see the strength in the man’s back and the broad shoulders and disembodied hands grew from slowly revealed arms and ran up his flesh pulling his head down into a kiss. The strangers head began to move, and he could make out enough details to see the woman’s fingers entangle themselves in the stranger’s blonde curls, her eyes closed and her lips in ecstasy as the man’s face buried itself into
