This story is based on the movie of the same name, Shelter. I just watched the movie for the first time a few days ago and I fell in love with it. I thought that the movie deserved to be written as a story with more details in each of the main characters lives, so I’ll try my best to write it the best way that I can. This first part I’m going to describe to you all who read this is about the first main characters in the movie. I’m also going to be adding things such as different scenes not from the movie as well as what’s going on inside the minds of the leading characters, Zach and Shaun.

There was this young kid in his early 20’s I would say; he was an artist and a loner. His name was Zach and all day and night all he would do is skateboard, surf, or draw.

Zach would always skateboard around his neighborhood and spray paint different pictures of bridges or cranes, on sides of buildings or walls. Zach did this as his tag to let people know that he was there.

Zach had a girlfriend that he would see from time to time, whenever he felt horny or whenever he just felt like hanging out with her.

Zack’s girlfriends name was Tara and Zack and Tara were boy and girl friends for years. If they weren’t going out with one another they would have been best friends. Another thing you all should know about is Zach’s family life.

Zach’s mom had passed away some years earlier and she left Jeanne, Zack’s sister to take care of her young son, Cody, alone as with Zack and their father. Their father was an alcoholic and had become bi-polar after his wife passed away. Jeanne became somewhat depressed after the death of her boyfriend, Cody’s father.

Most of the time Zach had to take care of Cody, he had to watch Cody whenever Jeanne had wild and crazy and loud parties that lasted all hours of the night. Sometimes these parties would end up to be sex parties where Jeanne would mess around with her boyfriend, Al and another woman.

Zack didn’t mind taking care of Cody. Zack loved Cody as if he was his own son. One day while Zach and Cody were at a super market waiting for Jeanne to come out of work Cody turned around while seating on a bench outside and faced Zach and looked him dead in the eyes and asked “Zach are you my dad?”

Just hearing that broke Zach’s heart. Zach replied with “No Cody, I’m your uncle. Your mom is my sister.”

Cody came back with “No you’re my dad, you’re my dad, you’re my dad,” with that Zach had a huge smile.

The house that Zach, Cody, and Jeanne lived in was in the ghetto side of San Pedro California, so Zach always liked to call it. The house was very small and was falling about.

Zach had one best friend his name was Gabe. They had been friends as long has Zach had been going out with Tara. The only thing was Gabe was after Tara for himself so once in awhile Gabe would ask Zach if he was still banging that chick. Zach would never answer his friend. Gabe was the complete opposite of Zach. One thing that was different about Gabe was that he had money. He had two mansions. He had a summer
