PART 1 (contains no sex)

He wanted him more than he had wanted anyone ever before. Jorell Haulm sighed as he watched the object of his obsession across the school library, as he did most days. It was his third year at Waverly University and he had watched Kristopher Brighton in awe for all three of those years. He was a casual friend of Kristopher’s, but rarely had conversations with Kris outside of the group they were both connected with. Everything in him wanted to go up to Kris and tell him exactly how he felt, but there was so much holding him back. He was still afraid to break free of the mindset of his childhood, the one that put a fear in his heart. A fear of never being enough, never amounting to anything. It extended into every facet of his life. He only had to finish this semester and then one more year of school and he would have his Baccalaureate in Business and he would show everyone that he was not worthless or useless. He would be independent and secure. Reminding himself of his near success, he smiled a little, never tearing his eyes from the face he had committed to memory the first time he laid eyes on him. The shoulder length, sleek, dark brown hair, ivory skin—so smooth it seemed as porcelain, his gorgeous brilliantly large green eyes, sleek figure…such a contrast to Jorell's ebony skin, trim yet muscular figure, dreadlocks hanging just below his shoulders and full lips. They stood close to the same height, Jorell around 5’10’’ and Kris about an inch shorter. Jorell wished he had the strength and courage to risk rejection from this beautiful man, but he didn’t even know where to begin. Should he flirt with him? Just go up to him and blurt out his feelings? How do you tell someone that you are interested in them? He knew that Kris was gay, it was a well-known fact around campus, but only a few people knew that Jorell was gay. It wasn’t a secret, but though Jorell hung out with some of the better known students at the campus, he wasn’t one that many students knew well. He mostly kept to himself. You are a hopeless romantic and hopeless romantics and college do not mix.

“Hey Jori!” Jorell snapped out of his self-induced trance. Kris stood before him, grinning. He had walked to Jorell while he was debating with himself on finally opening up to Kris. “What’s up, man?”

“Um... hey. Nothing much. How you doing?” Jorell felt his hands begin to sweat.

“Good, good.” Are you coming to the party in the student center tonight?”

“Not really sure…um, isn’t it a couples thing?” Why does he want to know? What is he thinking? Settle down Jori, he’s just being friendly.

“Yeah, it is.”

“Well, I don’t have a date and it’s probably too late to find someone, so I’m probably just going to pass.”

“Well, I don’t have a date either. Maybe we could go together?”

Jori gulped. He looked at Kris in shock, frozen in his seat.

“Unless you don’t want to. I mean you don’t have to—“Kris continued, with a slightly embarrassed look on his face.

“No! I mean,” Jorell gave Kris a shy smile “I would like that.”

“Sweet. It’s a date.” Kris shot a large and uninhibited smile back. “Do you mind if I sit here for a while?”
