I met him somewhere, in the caf’, in the student center, in the hallway, somewhere. He was in one of my literature classes from last semester. He was a jock, you know the type. Buff body, perfect blond hair, usually wore a jersey and silky shorts that rode just far enough down to prove he didn’t wear underwear. Above all else though, he seemed to be very popular with the ladies. I always saw him talking with them, laughing and smiling. We chatted for some reason and ended up talking about our plans for the weekend and he told me he, his friend and his friend’s girlfriend were going to the latest hit movie tonight. I, of course, didn’t have anything to do tonight other than homework that wasn’t due until next week.

I’m a nerd. Science major cliché, glasses, short black hair, skinny body, and had a horrible tendency to spout the most random information. I’ve always been considered intelligent but its only book smarts and the information I was full of was mostly useless. You’ll see what I mean. It was my freshman year and I wasn’t the very outgoing type. I had a few friends so far and all of them knew. I wasn’t hiding my sexuality anymore but I wasn’t announcing it either so as far as I knew only they and others who had the “gaydar” knew that I was gay. I had no idea if he knew or not but I wasn’t going to randomly tell him without prompt. Probably more random info that no one needed to hear. Then I heard the sentence that I didn’t expect in a million years. “Hey, can you come with us. I hate to be the third wheel and you’d really be doing me a favor.” I was shocked. A jock asking a nerd out to a movie. “Calm down,” I told myself “he’s looking for anyone to come with them. He just doesn’t want to be stuck sitting around while the other two make out. I couldn’t have been his first choice, after all its so last minute.” I accepted. Why not? I needed something to do and he was hot. I don’t get many opportunities to be around what I consider “eye candy” so I’ll take what I can get, even if they never talk to me.

 I was so nervous. I must have picked out five outfits, scrubbed my body till it was pink in the shower, and chewed my finger nails down to the quick. I, of course, got to the movie theatre almost ten minutes earlier than we decided to meet. I parked so I could see into the theatre and started into my book. I always carry some kind of reading material and this time it was one of the books from my last semester literature course. I remembered him talking about it so I thought if we could talk about it at least it would be something. I was about three paragraphs in and there was a knock at my window. I jumped and dropped my book and there he was. Wearing a green polo that matched his hazel eyes and I knew he smelled good. My window was up but
