“And here’s Archer’s of Loaf with Dead Red Eyes to take us away. Thanks for listening to all our shows this fall, and hopefully we’ll be back after Christmas to keep brining you guys more rockin’ tunes!” John said, switching off the lit yellow toggle button that sent power to the station’s hanging overhead microphone while fading up the CD cued in the cart deck.

“Another good show,” I commented as I removed my headphones and hung them on the rack behind me.

“Yeah, not bad,” John agreed as he put his own headset next to mine. “So, what do you wanna do now?”

Eyeing his smooth skin and pale, deep set features, I just responded with a curiously seductive curl of my lips and eyes. It certainly wouldn’t have been the first time he and I had fooled around in the station. John and I had met at the beginning of the semester when we both signed up for the same time slot at the University’s radio station. At the time, I couldn’t imagine why any of the other DJ’s would intentionally request the 1-3am time slot. But once I saw him, I knew we wouldn’t have any trouble spending the time together.

He immediately felt the same way about me and we started dating just a couple weeks after we met. By mid-semester, it had become almost routine for us to fool around in the vacant halls of the bottom of the building that housed the University’s tiny station. There were some old bathrooms down there that still had shower stalls we’d made good use of. And the other side of the building held the theatre department. Occasionally we’d slip over there and ‘play dress up’.

“Well, we could slip over to room 121 and try out a little role playing,” I suggested, referencing our previous escapades with ‘borrowed’ costumes. “But then again, this was our last show of the semester. We should probably celebrate by doing something a little more special.”

“Eh, like what?” John queried while setting up the automated computer to run the night’s pre-selected tracks until the morning DJ came in.

“We could go up to the fourth floor, do it in front of that big hallway window. Ya know, so there’s the chance that someone walking down the street might see us!”

“Oh, I dunno about that,” John responded while starting the automated computer playback sequence. “Sounds a little risky. I don’t think I actually want anyone to see me, as exciting as that sounds. I mean, its one thing for the theatre kids to know someone was messing around in their stuff, but its another if a security guard looks through a lit window to see two boys in the throws of passion!”

“Well, we do it your dorm room with Keith right there in the next bed. It’s not like he doesn’t know what’s going on!”

“Yeah, but Keith is… ya know… Keith,” John continued while packing his CD’s back into the worn messenger bag he always took with him to the station. “Besides, we’re under covers, it’s not he can see anything.”

“But he hears us,” I argued, still trying futily to convince John to try something new and exciting.

“Well, who cares if he hears us?”

“So, you have a problem with people seeing, but not with people hearing?” I asked, cornering John into agreeing with me.

“Yeah I guess so…”
