Earlier in the day....
I met gays, in person, for the first time. My friend and I went to a gay bar and talked to some of the men there. Those guys were extremely nice. They looked frightening in all that leather, but they were really very friendly. One asked us if we were 'Trannies' and I said that I didn't know. I was too ashamed to admit that I didn't know what a Tranny was.
You talk about meeting "...gays, in person..." as if you'd been to the Zoo and seen some exotic animals there. Believe it or not, Gays are actually people - there are just certain aspects of the totality of their lives that are different. It is an unfortunate aspect of American society at the dawn of the 21st Century, that a gay person's sexual orientation can be (and often is) taken as the sum total of their lives, the dominant aspect of it, no matter what else they may have to offer or to do or to be. This is not true of 'straight people' (that's Breeders, darlin'), who are allowed to have lives beyond the bedroom. _________________ "Lift ev'ry voice and Sing, 'till Earth and Heaven ring..."

mskimberli Slang's always confusing, I don't know half of slang in general except for things I am interested in into. Dom is dominant, scat is poop I think it's safe to say rimming and tossed salad are the same thing. Don't be afraid to ask people what something means, even if you feel silly. Sometimes I remember words/slang better because I remember the circumstances around which it was explained.
I doubt you met gays for the first time, just the first time you've been to a club that sounds like it catered to gays and BDSM and fetish.
Don't worry about not knowing stuff, every now and again I'm a total dunce and confuse transexual with transgendered and I haven't a clue what dirty sanchez or dirty rodrigues is. _________________ ~Manny

I didn't mean it that way, of course. I KNOW they're actually people. I just have never interracted with gay people before that day. I grew up in a community that didn't allow me to get to know people who were different. That was the first time that I stepped outside of my comfort zone or box or whatever you wish to call it. A person's sexual orientation does not matter in the big picture, I realize that, but if you've never been exposed to it, how would you know? And then when you are exposed to it, it's somewhat of an experience/adventure for that person. I enjoyed myself while I was with those guys and I've learned a lot from them. They made me realize that they were No different than me or anyone else whose lives tend to run along familiar lines. I was simply sharing an experience. I wasn't trying to offend anyone.
P.S. The 'Breeders' comment wasn't very nice and so unnecessary.

I agree. And you know, I've been thinking the same thing lately. I'm sure that I've met a gay person before, I just didn't realize it. Being in that bar made me realize these things: 1. Gay men are a hell of a lot more interesting than most of the straight people I deal with and 2. There was a lot of love and comraderie and most importantly acceptance in that room. And there's not enough of that going around these days. My friend and I walked in there, thinking that we were going to be thrown out b/c we were female and those guys accepted us which I thought was really nice.
And I still don't know the difference between a transexual and a transgender.

Okay, dumb ass question number 525,601: What exactly is he wiping across his partners lip?
And dumb ass question number 525,602: Is it lube or something else? I'm hoping---almost praying--that you say that it's lube. Please, please, please tell me that it's lube.
I have a feeling that I'm going to regret asking those two questions...

His dick and no, not lube. Yes, you'll regret asking
BDSM
Bondage (my favorite)
Discipline (or some use Domination)
Sadism
Masochism
Transgender/Transexual.
Transgender is the broad spectrum of people who have gender identiy that is different in some aspect from birth gender. It can run a gammut of behaviors including drag, androgony to full out sexual reassignment.
Transexual are those who seek be accepted as a gender opposite thier birth gender. _________________ ~James

...I'm still a little confused...but I'll have to do some serious research on that subject.
I see that I have moved from Virgin to Tease. That's the title I earn for asking half a million dumb ass questions. I'll take it. Good Night.

Okay, let's try this: all transexuals are transgender, not all transgender folks are transexual
clear as mud now?
...Uhm...No. It would probably help if I knew what a transexual was. Would the phrase, 'gender queer' fit into any of this? Crap, now I'm confused again. Gee, thanks, James for clearing that up.
One thing is very clear to me, though: You have to be smart---and I mean Albert Einstein smart to be gay. It's just so much stuff you have to know.

It might help if you remember trans basically means to cross. You know trans-Atlantic is to go over/cross the Atlantic so trans gender is to cross gender.
transgender : 1. Appearing as, wishing to be considered as, or having undergone surgery to become a member of the opposite sex.
transexual 1. a person who has undergone a sex change operation
2. a person whose sexual identification is entirely with the opposite sex
at least according to dictionary.com (I know I'm weird, I had a dictionary taken away from me in school once for teaching the boys to look up cuss words)So basically a transgender is just someone who at least wishes to have the appearance of the sex they aren't a transexual is has had surgery to alter themselves to be the gender they are not.
Does anyone know of a site on the surgery process? I'm actually rather curious how they make a girl a guy. The guy to girl transition is fairly guessable and I'm assuming Transamerica's over simplified explanation is accurate. _________________ ~Manny

I don't know where my links are, I'll try and find them.
The current state of the art:
Breast removal and complete historectomy (sp?) and removing and sewing up the vaginal opening.
Then take the forearm, remove a section of skin, remove a section of belly fat, slit open the clit, add a uretheral extension, pump (like for the old men who can't get it up) graft the skin and fat on to create a phallus and scrotum. Once it's healed they then tattoo a "head" on it. _________________ ~James

Oh goodness, that seems like a lot of work and a lot of pain. I'd have to give kudos to anyone who goes through all that. And there still are news stories of transsexuals having to fight to be considered the sex they've become, that makes those stories suck even more for the person involved. _________________ ~Manny

That does sound painful. Especially the part about slitting open the clit. But I always thought that the surgeons used...over never mind.
