i cant read a story if one of the characters has the same name as a relative, or someone i despise. its starting to piss me off big time. i really wanted to read the new romantic story today and theres someone named tyler in it. and i know a really horrific person whose made my life hell, tyler.
ugh. _________________ "I love it when people give up chocolate for lent...OHHH just like being nailed to a cross...hey God, get over here we gotta open up the Pearly Gates, this bitch is going like 40 days without a Kit Kat Bar!"

I've never thought about it before but it makes perfect sense. I think for me, if the writer does a good job with character development I can usually gloss over any real life stigma with what the name conjures up and just enjoy the story for what it is.
This brings to mind another topic I need to think about and start a thread on.
Yeah, if the author is extremely good at characterization, I can sometimes overlook the name Paul. One of my favorite Torquere authors has a book with the name Paul, but given that this Paul was one half of a twin thing, I was able to overlook it for the duration of the story. Won't ever write anything with the name Paul, though. LOL _________________ "There is but one temple in the universe and that is the body of man."

i just cant bring myself to read it though, reading these things are a fantasy to me, and seeing a name that i know has that knee jerk reaction.
ive always been careful to keep my sex life away from my family life. like if theres clean landry in a basket in the room that isnt mine, i cant have sex or jack off, it just seems weird. _________________ "I love it when people give up chocolate for lent...OHHH just like being nailed to a cross...hey God, get over here we gotta open up the Pearly Gates, this bitch is going like 40 days without a Kit Kat Bar!"
Its never really bothered me, I could see why it might bother other people. But think people are a lot more then just there names. Everyone is different and so when I'm reading a story with afamiliar name in, the author usually does a great job of painting a new picture in my head I don't think of anyone else I know. _________________ Live Free -- Dance Hard
