i'm asking bec i'm writing a multi-chapter story right now and two couples (out of 8 main characters) are turning out to be gay lovers. it's weird bec i never map a story out ahead of time and this just sort of happened -- the characters have taken on a life of their own (!) and this is the direction their going in, i really don't have any control over it (i've never had characters take control of the writing before!).

but i have a choice: i could skip the actual sex scenes and just allude to it, or i could give it a go. well, in the end i might not really have a choice in that ... also, the sex in my stories is part of who they are and how they treat each other, ie it's about the characters' relationships to each other. maybe i could take a chunk of their interaction out by totally censoring out their sex with each other, but that just seems strange to me -- like taking a quick time-out, have sex, and then continue interacting with each other.

well, so what do y'all think?

Actually, most of the gay erotica/romance/erotic romance out there (speaking mainly in terms of online/ebooks) is written by women--het women at that.

True. Very true. A friend of mine (and one of my authors for Erotic Dreams) wrote a very good article about writing gay porn/erotica. One of his biggest issues was the description of an erection being "heavy". It drives me batty to see it in a story, too. LOL

theres been one occasion where i was reading an erotica book and the story was alright but parts seemed overly romantic considering the 2 characters had just met and fucked, and i jokingly said it was prolly writen by a hormonal woman, and turned out i was right lol.

ive been stuck on this one sex scene for over a month. its something that me and my boyfriend did when we were 18 and reeeeally drunk. so its already fuzzy, and im using different characters so its been so hard translating my own expirence.
